Dubbed Millions Vegas, the event will take place at the Aria and run from June 28 to July 2. Timed to coincide with the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the organizers are hoping it will attract the hundreds of pros in Sin City over the summer.

Options for Everyone

In line with other Partypoker Live events, satellites will be available online over the coming weeks. Alongside these, the Aria will host its own qualifiers from June 27 onwards.

For those that don’t win their way into the tournament, direct buy-ins will cost $10,300. There will be two Day 1s players can enter one or, for an additional entry fee, they can enter both starting flights.

At the request of its Vegas partners, Partypoker will also be offering direct buy-ins on Day 2 until the start of level three.

Commenting on the special event, Partypoker Live president John Duthie said it was a major milestone for the fledging tour.

“The partnership with ARIA in Vegas is a significant step marking the first time Partypoker Live has hosted a tournament in the United States,” Duthie said in the official press release.

After launching the tournament series back in 2017, Partypoker aimed to fill the void left by the European Poker Tour’s (EPT) demise. Although PokerStars’ flagship series has since returned, Duthie has been pushing to make Partypoker Live the go-to name on the circuit.

As founder of the EPT, the Englishman said his creations no longer reflect the values he strived for. When he assumed control of Partypoker Live in February 2017, he pledged to get back to these values and make it a player-friendly environment.

Partypoker Playing to Players

With Partypoker Live, Duthie is using feedback to guide his decisions. This strategy has led to various innovations, including the record-breaking Millions Online.

Although the 2019 MTT will cost double what it did last year, the prizepool will be at least $20 million. At that level, it will go down as one of the richest online tournaments in history.

Looking to capitalize on its recent success, Millions Vegas will be a chance for Partypoker to enhance its reputation in the US. Indeed, with PokerStars announcing a deal with FOX Sports on May 8, the fight for supremacy has moved to a new arena.

As long as the battle for dominance continues, players will benefit. Through a combination of online and live innovations, the coming months should see tournament fans get more than ever before.
