The decision to host another WSOP online this summer is due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Although the situation is better than it was in 2020, the current rules and regulations aren’t conducive to a successful event in Las Vegas.

As such, a live WSOP will take place in the fall. Before that, GGPoker and WSOP.com will once again share the responsibility of hosting bracelet events for players inside and outside of the US.

Sites Unite to Offer Transatlantic WSOP

There will be 66 online bracelet events in total this year. WSOP.com’s 33 MTTs got underway on July 1.

Open to players in the US states of Nevada and New Jersey, the initial run of tournaments includes a variety of championship events and high rollers.

The final US online bracelet event comes to an end on August 1, which the same day GGPoker takes over.

The international poker site will give players in the UK, Europe, Canada, and parts of Asia the chance to compete in 33 unique MTTs.

The series runs until September 12, and during that time there will be some super-sized guarantees. Indeed, last year’s WSOP Online was not only a success, it was a record-breaker.

The Main Event broke the record for largest prizepool in a single online poker tournament. That accolade was subsequently ratified by Guinness World Records, but it might not stand for much longer.

Monstrous Main Event Poised to Break Another Record

This year’s WSOP Online Main Event will feature a $20 million guarantee and a $5,000 buy-in. GGPoker is already running a variety of freerolls and satellites, but that’s not all.

GGPoker recently dethroned PokerStars at the top of the online traffic rankings. It now attracts more than 100,000 players at peak times, which means the forthcoming WSOP could be bigger than before.

The Main Event’s supporting cast should also attract the masses. From the $50 bracelet event with a $1 million guarantee to super high rollers costing $25,000, there’s something for everyone.
