Another Record Falls for Americas Cardroom As TRT-Vitor Smashes Venom

Americas Cardroom carved out its own little piece of history this week thanks to its flagship MTT, Venom.

The third instalment of the $2,650 tournament took place between July 24 and August 5. When the registration desks closed, 3,872 players had anted up.

That pushed the $7 million guarantee to $9.6 million and made Venom III the biggest US-facing online poker tournament in history. It also meant the winner, TRT-Vitor, took home a top prize worth $1.3 million.

TRT-Vitor Shows Knockout Power

UFC fans will recognize the name TRT-Vitor as a homage to Brazilian fighter Vitor Belfort. Joe Rogan gave him that nickname after he was given a medical exemption to use testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

Belfort went on an impressive run during that period in his career, knocking out opponents for fun. On August 5, TRT-Vitor (Ed: we’re sure it wasn’t Belfort) put on equally devastating performance.

The American started the session with the chip lead and held that position throughout. Helping bear the load over the course of two hours was FORRESTRANFAR. The Mexican was first to strike at the final table, taking out Silskyer with a fortunate turn card.

Silskyer moved all-in with A♣T♠ on a K♠5♠A♥ flop. FORRESTRANFAR called with K♦8♦. The 8♠ fell on the turn to give FORRESTRANFAR the lead and, finally, the pot after the 6♦ brought the hand to an end.

Over the next hour it was a matter of bets, bluffs, and eliminations as the field was cut from seven to two. TRT-Vitor and FORRESTRANFAR proved to be unbeatable forces and there was little to choose between them in the end.

FORRESTRANFAR was the short stack, but with 74 big blinds there was still plenty to play for. However, with the difference between first and second place in the region of $400,000, the pair agreed to a chop.

Deal Helps Conclude Record-Breaking Venom III

TRT-Vitor locked up just over $1.3 million, while FORRESTRANFAR took $1.2 million. An additional $25,000 and the Venom III title were left aside for the winner, prizes TRT-Vitor made his after an hour-long heads-up battle.

The final hand came down to a coinflip. A sequence of bets and raises ended with FORRESTRANFAR moving all-in with A♥5♥ on a 3♥6♥7♦ flop.

TRT-Vitor tanked for a few seconds before calling with pocket kings. The T♠ and J♠ on the turn on river were enough for kings to scoop the pot and make TRT-Vitor the latest Venom champion.
