The Winning Poker Network (WPN) and its flagship site, Americas Cardroom, have given Venom some extra bite thanks to a $7 million guarantee.

The high-stakes MTT is back for a third time and, in line with online poker’s recent surge, the prizepool has been set to a record level.

Day 1A of the $2,650 tournament will get underway on July 24. To ensure everyone on the US-facing poker site gets a chance to compete for a seven-figure top prize, there will be three additional starting flights.

Winner to Extract $1 Million from Venom

Venom will run on Americas Cardroom until August 5 and, as per the rules, any deal at the final table can’t leave the winner with less than $1 million.

Venom Schedule

  • Day 1A: Wednesday, July 24 @ 1pm ET
  • Day 1B: Sunday, July 26 @ 1pm ET
  • Day 1C: Wednesday, July 29 @ 11am ET
  • Day 1D: Sunday, August 2 @ 1pm ET
  • Day 2: Monday, August 3 @ 1pm ET
  • Day 3: Tuesday, August 4 @ 1pm ET
  • Final Table: Wednesday, August 5 @ 5pm ET

With a guarantee of $7 million and the winner banking a seven-figure sum, Venom has been branded the “biggest online poker tournament offered by a US-facing site.”

Although Americas Cardroom isn’t licensed in states with online gaming regulations, it operates on the basis that UIGEA didn’t outlaw poker. To ensure it doesn’t contravene UIGEA’s stipulation that operators can’t process payments from US players, it offers alternative funding options.

This, combined with international online gaming licenses, means Americas Cardroom is available to players in the US and around the world.

Americas Cardroom Riding Online Poker High

Previous incarnations of Venom have taken advantage of this dynamic and proved popular. After Venom I exceeded expectations, it returned in December 2019 with a $6 million guarantee. When the virtual registration desks closed, that figure was surpassed by more than $700,000.

Buoyed by previous successes, WPN and Americas Cardroom have added more juice to this summer’s prizepool. The timing also couldn’t be better. With lockdowns still in place around the world and online poker traffic still on a high, it’s an ideal opportunity to set a new record.

What’s more, it’s another way for players to compete for a mega prizepool in July and August. Indeed, with the WSOP and WPT running events online for the next few weeks, it’s an unprecedented time for online poker with more than $100 million in prize money up for grabs.

WPN and Americas Cardroom will only add to this with a prizepool set to be at least $7 million.
