The recent Team ACR recruit is fronting a new promotion known as Pro for Pennies: Become Chris Moneymaker.

The 12-week event will run from April 12 to July 25 and the winner will receive a sponsorship package worth $105,000.

Get In for Pennies

The qualification period runs for 12 weeks and will see 360 players make it through to a three-day finale.

Each week there will be a selection of MTTs costing $0.01. The top 100 finishers will earn points and a player’s top five results in a single week will determine their standing on a weekly leaderboard.

The top 30 finishers of the week progress to a final showdown that will start with 360 runners on July 11.

From there, the field will be whittled down during two additional sessions (July 15 and 25) until just one player is left.

That player will become the proverbial “Chris Moneymaker” and win a unique sponsorship package.

Americas Cardroom Sponsorship for Pennies Package

  • $25,000 in cash
  • $40,000 in live tournament buy-ins
  • $40,000 in online tournament buy-ins

Americas Cardroom has the final say on which tournaments their honorary pro can enter. The winner will also have to take part in interviews, photoshoots, and promotional events.

However, in return for their efforts, the sponsored player will get to live the life of a pro for a year. If history tells us anything, it’s that recreational players love this type of offer.

Americas Cardroom Using Tried and Tested Ideas

Full Tilt, Partypoker, and Paddy Power have all offered similar deals in recent years. In fact, the chance to become a sponsored pro was something that fueled a lot of activity during online poker’s golden era.

Although things have changed since the noughties, a good idea is a good idea, forever.

Based on that, Americas Cardroom may be onto a winner with its latest effort to gain notoriety through sponsorships.

Indeed, the signing of Vanessa Kade generated a lot of attention last week. Now, the emphasis is on giving a recreational player the chance to become the next Chris Moneymaker.
