Partypoker’s latest venture in the world of high stakes entertainment has brought together some of the game’s best for a special home game.
Hosted by English pro Sam Trickett, the live cash game got underway on January 9 and Luke Schwartz made his presence felt early.
The brash Brit recently challenged Phil Galfond and it looks as though his confidence is justified. With the one-day spectacle adding some extra interest to Partypoker’s Millions UK, the game started out as a Pot Limit Omaha affair with blinds at £100/£200 ($130/$260).
Schwartz Causes as Storm
Schwartz stormed to an early lead, taking his stack beyond the £250,000/$327,000 mark, meaning he quickly became the man to beat. While fortunes were on the up for Schwartz, Trickett was struggling.
By the midway point inside Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn, Trickett was sitting on 310 big blinds ($81,100). That was enough to save him from being the short stack but it wasn’t enough ammunition to prevent an onslaught from Rob Yong.

The Dusk Till Dawn owner is also a familiar face on the high stakes scene and he used his loose style to good effect. As the session wore on, he entered the game late and started to mix it almost immediately.
As the likes of Leon Tsoukernik and Yair Bitoun came and went, Yong took his stack to $351,500. Also among the top stacks was American Kyle Permut. Another regular on the high stakes scene, Permut was sitting on $183,000 as the action started to flow.
More High Stakes Entertainment from Partypoker
For poker fans, Trickett’s Home Game was another chance to see the game’s finest do their thing. As part of Partypoker’s commitment to producing more streaming content, the cash game was live on Twitch.
As well as a 30-minute delay for security reasons, English pro James Dempsey and a selection of guests commentated on the action.
For those watching, it was Schwartz who stole the show. Serving up his usual mix of aggressive poker and even more aggressive chat, the Londoner kept the masses entertained throughout the night.
Business is about to pick up! @rob_yong_ joins the action in Trickett's Room at #MILLIONSUK. It's 100/200/400 PLO and we've already seen six figure pots! Don't miss a second of the action and watch live here: https://t.co/ANS254CY7S pic.twitter.com/DLOjsbKMnx

Although the high stakes cash game only lasted one day, it’s not the end of the action inside Dusk Till Dawn. Running since December 29, Millions UK is entering its final stages.
With 530 entries collected in the $5 million main event, Day 2 got underway on January 10. Leading the 170 remaining hopefuls early in the session was Mauricio Ferreira Pais, closely followed by Richard Trigg.
However, with two days to go and the likes of Marvin Rettenmaier and Philipp Gruissem still in the mix, anything can happen in the closing stages of the Partypoker Millions UK main event.
