Announced at the start of April, the latest crop of candidates for a place in the female-only Hall of Fame have all contributed to the industry in a variety of ways over the last decade. Topping the bill in terms of mainstream notoriety is Hollywood actress and poker player Jennifer Tilly.

Tilly Takes Centerstage in Voting Process

As well as her appearance in a variety of poker shows, including Poker After Dark and the PartyPoker Big Game, Tilly won a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet back in 2005. After carving her way through to 601-player field, Tilly eventually bested Anh Le heads-up to bank $158,335 and cement her status as a “real” poker player.

Also flying the flag for female players in the 2018 ballot is Kara Scott, Maria Ho, Shirley Rosario, Karina Jett and Terry King. Beyond those who have made their mark on the felt, the judges will also be considering the merits of those that have worked to promote poker behind the scenes.

Hermance Blum, Mandy Glogow and Angelica Hael have all helped the World Poker Tour (WPT) remain as one of the leading poker organizations over the last ten years.

Responsible for the day-to-day running of events as well as establishing the brand in new countries, the trio will now see their efforts recognized by the community at large.

Nominees Cover All Angles

The final two women in this year’s vote have each been involved with the game for more than a decade. Writer Haley Hintz has covered almost every aspect of the industry in thousands of articles, including the scandals involving Lock Poker and Absolute Poker.

Lupe Soto on the other hand is not only a player and businesswoman, but the founder of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. Wanting to establish a place where females could get the coverage and platform they deserve, Soto has been instrumental in the push for equality between men and women in poker.

With the nominees set, a judging panel consisting of media members and current Hall of Fame members will now vote. This year, at least two women will earn a place alongside Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert and Victoria Coren Mitchell.
