Pacific Poker Review

Pacific Poker is part of the 888 brand and it's powered by the same software as 888poker. As one of the internet's top poker rooms, Pacific Poker boasts a community of 5 million players who log in daily to play at the cash games or tournaments on its servers. The award-winning software is owned and operated by Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd, a company licenced and registered by the Gambling Ordinance in Gibraltar.

New players who download Pacific Poker software and register their poker account can now claim a fantastic Welcome Package which can add up to $1,000 to their bankroll on their first deposit! When you make your first deposit you'll receive 200% up to $1000 in free cash bonus. If you deposit $100, then Pacific Poker will match your deposit dollar for dollar and throw in an extra $100 on top for a total of $300. You earn $2 FREE for every $1 you put in!

To sweeten the deal further, Pacific Poker will also credit $88 to your bank roll as soon as you log in to your account for the first time, so you can check out the games on offer and try the software before you spend a cent of your own money.

In our Pacific Poker review, we take a look at all the aspects that make this online poker software such a great choice for players, as well as point out some things to watch out for.

You can play at Pacific Poker online in your web browser or by downloading the free poker client onto their desktop PC or laptop. After installing the software, you can sign up to play real money games and claim you 200% up to $1000 welcome offer.

The Pacific Poker client is very intuitive and easy to use, providing players with plenty of great games and options to personalise their poker playing experience. Among the poker formats available on the software there are classics like Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud. Players can also try their hand at ring games, SNGs, free or cash games, free rolls, jackpot tournaments and offline tournaments.

Stake Levels

Players can find a comprehensive table listing all the betting limits and rake amounts, as well as game rules and jackpots, directly from the Pacific Poker website. There is a large range of stake levels that suit practically every player's bankroll, starting with hands playing for as little as only 1 cent and going all the way up to $500 per game. This range fits the needs of casual to low/mid-rolling players, however high-rollers are likely to find the maximum limit on Pacific Poker too tame for them.

Tournament Play

Pacific Poker gives its players the chance to enter a variety poker tournaments, such as freerolls and real money tournaments, including SNG's and multi-table tournaments. Players can even enter into satellites and take a virtual seat at land-based tournaments like the WSOP through the software. Many tournaments are organised as part of a special promotion, such as the $100K First Depositors' Challenge and Pacific Poker's $10,000 Monday Twins.

Poker Formats

Game selection at Pacific Poker includes the following poker variants:

  • Texas Hold'em
  • Omaha (high and high-low)
  • 7 Card Stud (high and high-low)

There are a lot of promotions running all year round at Pacific Poker. Perhaps the most lucrative of them all is the Welcome Bonus package, which offers new players the chance to quickly get started and grow their bankroll with little effort.

In fact, if you use the bonus PCP1000 when you sign up for a new account at Pacific Poker, you will be eligible to receive a $1,000 cash bonus on your first deposit. You'll also get $88 credited instantly to your bankroll just so that you can test-drive the software and start discovering all the different poker games available on it.

Other promotions organised by Pacific Poker include the chance to enrol into the First Depositor's Challenge which sees you play against other players from all around the world in a series of tournaments with prizes ranging from $500 to $1,000.

Pacific Poker also promotes its PokerCam Prizes, in which it gives away spot prizes for players who try their hand at the live poker tables. The Teams Poker tournament is another special offer that lets you combine poker with sports betting on football events and having the chance to win money from both wagers.

Payment Methods

Players who play at Pacific Poker have a wide choice of payment methods at their disposal to transfer funds to and from their accounts.

The Cashier button on their main account page gives you the option to choose whether you want to deposit or withdraw money. Clicking on the any option pulls up a list of over 30 different payment methods, including: Visa and MasterCard cards; PayPal; e-wallets, such as Neteller, Skrill and Ukash; wire transfer and bank transfer; and check payment.

Both deposits and withdrawals are processed very quickly and reliably, with most deposits being cleared in just a few minutes and withdrawals taking up to a several days.

Loyalty Program

Pacific Poker runs a loyalty program that offers its players the chance to earn comp points each time they wager on real money games. There are two types of points: Status points, which count towards maintaining or improving your VIP status, and Reward Points, which can be traded for cashbacks, bonuses, gadgets and other physical gifts, and entry to VIP-only tournaments.

Status and Rewards points are automatically credited to the player's bonus balance after every cash game they participate in. After reaching the minimum qualifying limit, players can redeem their points at the 888 online shop where they can buy branded poker merchandise and other prizes. Alternatively, you can exchange Reward points for real cash that is added to your bankroll.

Unfortunately, Pacific Poker doesn't specifically cater for poker players who play on mobile. There isn't a mobile app for use on smartphones and tablets and the software is mainly designed to be installed on a desktop computer, which suggests that compatibility on mobile devices is likely to be very limited or impossible. Therefore, the best way to play on mobile is by logging through a web browsers to access instant poker play.

Customer Support

Pacific Poker puts a great deal of emphasis on player experience. Their software client is packed with great features that allow poker players to try out a variety of games and bag plenty of bonuses while they're at it. So far, so good; but what if the software doesn't live up to players' expectations due to technical and connection errors while playing?

Luckily, Pacific Poker is very reliable and their client isn't prone to go all wonky on its users. However, if the worst does happens, players will be left scratching their heads if they try to solve their problems by visiting the website. The main site offers very little help in terms of customer support and you'll need to refer to 888poker's website to find the information you're looking for.

Since Pacific Poker is powered by 888poker, the two share a lot of similarities and you can troubleshoot most problems yourself by reading the relevant entries in the FAQ mini-site. However, this is a very slow method and people seeking reassurance from the support team will notice that live chat isn't available, nor are there any links to send support an email.

Pacific Poker is a sister site of 888poker, which means that is powered by the same software that millions of poker players around the world have chosen as their go-to poker client. Although Pacific is a smaller brand, its offers all the thrills and excitement of bigger names in online poker and the chance of claiming a $1,000 welcome bonus using the code PCP1000 adds a lot of value to the overall package.

One of the most obvious shortcomings of Pacific Poker is the apparent lack of support options available on their website. Even though their support team is probably tightly integrated with 888's, it wouldn't hurt to include more information on how to get in-person help. That being said, we found that the software works smoothly, and the troubleshooting section on the site is fairly detailed, so players can put their minds at rest that virtually nothing will stop them from having an entertaining and lucrative gaming experience while playing at Pacific Poker.
