Set to go live on February 26, the Unibet Online Series (UOS) will be split into three levels with buy-ins ranging from $0.12 To $123:

Nano: 28 events with buy-ins ranging from $0.12 to $1.23

Low: 28 events with buy-ins ranging from $2.46 to $30

High: 28 events with buy-ins ranging from $30 to $123

Simple Structure with Added Incentives

The bulk of the schedule will be made up of No Limit Hold’em events, with three Omaha options sprinkled into the mix. To give the new online some added appeal, a $123,000 guaranteed main event will close the action on March 11, while leaderboards for each buy-in level will giveaway an additional $1,800.

Although the new series is significantly smaller in stature than those offered by sites such as PokerStars, the innovation is significant given Unibet Poker’s status in the industry. Since breaking away from the Microgaming Network at the end of 2013, Unibet Poker has had to build a product from the bottom up.

After initially focusing on cash games and casual players, the development team has now reached a stage where its capable of putting together a solid tournament series.

“We couldn’t allocate development time to bring our tournament offering up to where it is now. Given that our client launched in 2014 with (what was at the time) a relatively small development team, we had to pick our battles, and improving tournaments was put on a shelf until a later date,” Unibet’s Head of Poker David Pomroy told CalvinAyre.com.

Continued Evolution for Unibet Poker

During his interview with Calvin Ayre’s Lee Davy, Pomroy also explained that he wasn’t expecting thousands of runners and nor were they aiming for that. Instead, the UOS is being seen as a shop window for Unibet’s new focus on MTTs and, moreover, a feeder for the Battle of Champions.

Set to take place at the start of 2019, the Battle of Champions will be a live event featuring four UOS winners, four Unibet Open champions and the Deep Stack Open leaderboard winner.

The special event will be streamed live on Twitch and, although the finer details are still being ironed out, Pomroy has promised those involved will be treated like champions.

For now, Unibet Poker will concentrate on getting through its first major online tournament series without a hitch.
