Las Vegas casino Treasure Island is set to launch a self-branded subscription poker site, but it won’t be using 888’s software.

Back in 2013 Treasure Island and 888 formed a partnership that was eventually deemed worthy of an iGaming license within the state of Nevada.

The initial plan was for Treasure Island to launch its own online poker room with the help of 888’s software, but those plans appear to have been put on ice.

Treasure Island Looks Beyond 888

As it stands, Treasure Island’s partnership with 888 is based on a non-exclusive business-to-business deal and it’s this lack of exclusivity that’s allowed 888 to also broker a deal with Caesars Interactive Entertainment.

This deal has seen 888 provide the software backbone for the WSOP’s online site since 2013 and become the official sponsor of the summer tournament series.

In contrast, Treasure Island and 888 have yet to launch an online poker room and it seems as though any potential projects will have to wait.

Despite its current partnership with 888, Treasure Island’s new subscription-based online poker site will be powered by Australia’s Strategic Entertainment Pty Ltd.

Currently supplying online gaming services to B2B clients around the world, the company will allow Treasure Island to offer a range of poker games to its members.

As well as offer a standard range of games, such as Hold’em and Omaha, Strategic Entertainment Pty Ltd is known for its subscription-based software known as DownUnder Poker.

It’s All About Subscriptions

It seems that this experience with subscription-based poker platforms is what’s prompted Treasure Island to work with Strategic Entertainment Pty Ltd on this occasion.

According to the company’s website, DownUnder Poker is a social poker site that allows members to win “prizes never seen before” on subscription sites.

When Treasure Island’s site goes live it will offer three subscription levels: free, Gold ($9.95 a month) and Platinum ($14.95 a month). The more a player plays per month, the greater the value of the prizes they can win in the site’s selection of free play tournaments.

The launch of Treasure Island’s poker room is set to coincide with the start of the WSOP and it will be hoping to lure at least some players through its virtual doors by offering a series of live events of its own.

Thanks to events company Living It Loving It and the UK’s Dusk Till Dawn poker room, Vegas visitors will be able to enjoy a range of “European” themed events inside Treasure Island’s poker room.

From TVs showing Euro 2016 soccer matches to free drinks offers and high stakes cash games, Treasure Island will be hosting an array of events in a bid to bring in players that may eventually become online subscribers.
