The world-famous Irish Poker Open will pick up where it left off in 2014 and host yet another festival in Dublin next April. Known for being one of the liveliest poker events of the year, the Irish Poker Open 2015 is expected to welcome more players that ever, thanks to an improved satellite system and prize pool.

Sexton’s Irish Charm

In fact, before the action gets underway on April 2, players from across Europe can win a place in the €3,500 Main Event through a series of online and offline qualifiers. Dublin’s Double Tree Hilton Hotel will once again play host to the festival until April 6.

As in previous years, many of the world’s top grinders are expected to join the festivities in the home of Irish poker. One international player that has already confirmed his attendance is long-time supporter Mike Sexton. He’ll be joined on the felt by Eoghan O’Dea and the 2014 Irish Poker Open champion Patrick Clarke.

Bigger and Better in 2015

Earlier this year, the Main Event attracted 411 players from around the world. However, when the chips were down and the action was over, it was Ireland’s Clarke who banked the €200,000 top prize. This year an increased roster of satellites, plus the prospect of a larger prizepool, is expected to boost the number of entrants by a significant margin.

“We’re still in 2014 but the excitement is already building ahead of next year’s Irish Open. We’ve put together great schedule of side events for the Open which should cater for everyone in attendance. This year we’re expecting the prizepool to increase significantly which will no doubt lead to a bigger and better event,” said Paddy Power’s Patrick Thornton.
